Megan and David’s Wedding Photos at Independence Grove

Megan and David met as freshman in college when David knocked on the door of her dorm room and invited Megan and and her roommates to a party.  Over the course of four years, they became best friends.  David even became close with Megan’s family, but neither thought anything more of their relationship until senior year.  To their own surprise, they realized they both had feelings for each other, and with a foundation that makes for long and happy marriages, the two started dating.

Already in their time together they’ve experienced a great depth of human emotion, from the loss of parents, to the joy of close friendship. They have an easy rapport with one another that makes those around them feel settled and balanced by their grounded relationship. I see this come through in so many of their pictures, especially those of them together outside and during their first dance. There’s pure affection in each of their eyes.

It’s a joy to see wonderful people commit to each other. I’m so happy for Megan and David and wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Lauren + Matt’s // Dunham Wood’s Riding Club Wedding Photos

Dunham Wood’s Riding Club Wedding Photos

The scene looked almost like a fall day for Lauren and Matt’s summer wedding. I loved shooting their Dunham Wood’s Riding Club Wedding Photos in this enchanting outdoor venue.  Beneath a beautiful oak tree with fallen leaves dappling the grass, the two said “I do” after 11 years together. It was a very touching ceremony, officiated by the bride’s aunt. Happy tears were shed and family and friends were delighted to celebrate Lauren and Matt’s union.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Michael Jr.’s One Year Photos

A year ago, dear friends Kimi and Michael Ponzio welcomed home their first son, Michael Jr.  This August, they not only celebrate his 12 months of life, but also their new son or daughter, who is now 12 weeks.

Michael Jr. charmed the socks off me.  I can only imagine how wonderful their newest addition will be. Please come soon, February. Congrats Kimi and Mike!

Faye’s First Birthday

Faye’s First birthday party was a “smash” hit!  She loved the cake her beautiful mom, Emily Florez made her and was all smiles in her Dad Ray’s arms. They’re the sweetest couple and Faye is such a darling little girl, it was such a hoot taking her first birthday photos.

Amanda + Eric’s Chicago Engagement Photos

Shooting this engagement session was extra special for me. The beautiful subject of these pictures is one of my oldest and best friends. We first met in middle school back when we spent Friday nights at the skating rink or slumber parties. In high school Amanda made a name for herself because of her enthusiastic school spirit and down-to-earth personality. In college, we roomed together in our first apartment. After graduation, it was Amanda beside me in the Uhaul, driving across the midwest from Nebraska to Chicago, where we shared two apartments, before eventually settling in our current spots, less than 10 minutes from each other.  At this point, I think of Amanda as much as family as a friend.

Like a protective sister, It was hard for me to imagine a guy just right for her. She has the best sense of humor around and she’s one of the most social people I know–the kind of social where everyone wants to be her friend, and she somehow manages to be a devoted friend to them all. When I first hung out with Eric, the new guy she met playing dodgeball, it was at a b.b.q.  He said, “wanna sit at this table with me so we can chat?”  At first I was taken aback, I thought, “Huh, ok…” But he just wanted the chance to get to know the close friend of his new main squeeze and I became an instant fan.

Eric, or E.A. as I like to call him, is her perfect match. A social butterfly who loves to have fun, they’ll never be bored. Of course, the thing that I like about E.A. most is his love for Amanda. One of my favorite lines from him came when he proposed, “Amanda, I love the sh*t out of you and I wanna be with you forever.”  So here’s to forever. Love you guys and can’t wait to celebrate with you at the wedding.
